Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
Introduction:
Medicine Baccalaureus & Baccalaureus Chirurgic (MB BChir, MB ChB, BM BS, MB BS or variations thereof) are the two degrees awarded after a course in medicine and surgery at a university in countries which adopt Commonwealth system of education like the UK and other places following the British tradition, such as Australian, Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand, Jamaican, South African, Pakistan, Indian and Nepalese medical schools.
In theory they are two separate degrees, but in practice the two are usually treated as one. The degrees are the British equivalent of the American M.D.
Programme Objectives:
The MBBS programme enables the learner:
- To inculcate the competencies in cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains.
- To be competent to manage health care at district hospital of Nepal
- To identify complicated health related problems.
- To refer them to the appropriate health institutions in the country.
Eligibility Criteria:
Those having passed the proficiency certificate in Medical Science under Tribhuvan University academic programme of two and a half years with Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and English or proficiency certificate in general science with Physics, Chemistry, botany, Zoology and English or 10+2 or Higher Secondary or equivalent academic programmes with Physics, Chemistry, Botany Zoology and English of Tribhuvan University Boards recognized by it with fifty percent aggregate mark, can apply into the programme. All must take the entrance examination prior to selection for the course.
Course Duration:
KU/TU/ BPKIHS MBBS Program: 4.5 year+ 1 year Internship
PAHS MBBS Program: 5 year + 1 year Internship
