Bachelor in Optometry (B Optom)

Introduction:

Bachelor in optometry is a four–year bachelor programme at the Institute of medicine (IOM) only, which deals with diagnosis and treatment of visual problems, detection of ocular and related systemic diseases requiring special care. Optometrists are medical primary health care professionals specifically educated and clinically trained to examine the eye and visual systems and to solve the visual problems by prescribing spectacles, contact lenses and other opthalmic aids.

Eligibility:

Students who wish to do degree or diploma courses in Ophthalmic technology should clear 10+2 or equivalent examination, with a minimum of 50% marks in physics, chemistry and biology.

Duration:
B.Optom course is of 4 year duration. The first 3 years teaching is followed by one year of internship for clinical and trade experience.
